Does that mean there's no way to collapse/expand detail in reports in general?ģ) Is there really no budgeting functionality until Plus level?Ĥ) Is there really no way to get a list of unbilled time or expenses in Simple Start?ĥ) Can you still drill down into reports to get more detail on any number in particular?Ħ) Can you still customize reports, or create entirely new reports using search?ħ) Can you still memorize reports? (I'm used to having a large library of customized reports that assist in my regular tasks.)Ĩ) I never actually liked the dashboard (or whatever it was called) in Desktop, and I used the buttonbar to allow me to access all of my regular tasks with just one click. So I'm hoping some of you will be able to share your thoughts/experience.īTW: Here is the table I've been using to see what reports are included with what versions.ġ) Is there really no AP report/summary in Simple Start?Ģ) I notice that in Simple Start, for a lot of reports a Detail version is included but Summary isn't (or vice versa). But I still have some questions for which I haven't been able to find answers. I've done a lot of watching videos and reading articles.

So now I'm trying to set aside my prior emotional reaction, and look into Online logically, to see if it will work for what my parents need, and if so, which version they'd want. And once I got to know where to find everything in the Mac version, I can still (mostly) do whatever I want/need to. Which shouldn't surprise me, as they do the same with the Mac versions vs. I now know that's because Intuit decided to completely change the interface between Desktop and Online. I only had a brief opportunity to use Online (don't know what version) once years ago, and I was annoyed and confused that I couldn't figure out how to do anything I wanted to do.

But then my Dad asked "why not QuickBooks Online?" and I realized my gut reaction (I hate it!) wasn't necessarily logical. I thought we were going to do QuickBooks Desktop for Mac 2021. I'm now working with my parents to get them switched over to QuickBooks (for keeping personal books and those for a sole proprietorship service business). I also use QuickBooks for Mac at home for my personal books (currently the 2019 version). I've used QuickBooks for years at work - various jobs have used Pro, Premier, and Enterprise.
